Brian’s Sailboat

Brian Joseph Snyder has a delightful little story that he tells about releasing thoughts that are bothersome by merely putting them in a toy sailboat and seeing them in the flow of a stream that is carrying them away and taking the emotional charge with them.

The visual may be more pertinent to my generation than his because, as a kid, we would sing the little nursery rhyme and song – Row, Row, Row, Your Boat.

It was – Row, row, row your boat, Gently down The Stream. Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, Life is but a dream.

Row, row, row your boat, Gently down The Stream. Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, Life is but a dream.

Brian Suggests that whenever we have a thought in our heads that disturbs us, we can visualize taking the image and putting it in a little toy sailboat and letting it flow down a stream and move away from us so our peace can return.
